The Official History of Green Shirt Thursdays

Ok, here goes. After the Alumni Race in 2001, Coach Hamel was selling the Prep North Cross Country shirts. Now for those who are not familiar with the St. Louis area or anything of the sort, Prep North is the high school that our coach went to and ran cross country for. It has since closed. Coach Linhares had his high school shirts remade and some of the runners bought them since it is the 'history' of the program since coach modeled his program after his high school coach's program. So Brennan Connor and I both wanted one and we were going to purchase one. We weren't sure whether to buy the green one with the yellow letters or the yellow one with the green letters. Now at the time I wanted the yellow one with the green letters one because Coach had that one. Green was actually a JV shirt at Prep North. But then Brennan told me that we should both buy green ones and then we'll wear them on Thursdays and they will be Green Shirt Thursdays. And so it began....It started off strong and some people were picking up on it. Green Shirt Thursdays soon became a symbol of the newly formed BAMFOs, a faction group within SLUH XC. But there was a bump in the program my senior year (2002) when I left my green shirt in either Kyle Gonnerman's car(minivan/gonnervan) or his house. So for a few months I was without a green shirt. This was the dark ages. However, a few lads, namely Matt Killiany and Dan Flanagan, managed to keep it alive during those months. Finally Kyle returned my shirt to me and we began to spread the word. Here at Truman, we purchased some stylish pea-soup-green shirts and had "Thursday" pressed on the back. They are also size small, so they are nice and tight and the ladies love them. They are all like, "why aren't you wearing your green shirt?" and I am all like "It's Tuesday." So that is pretty much the story. And if that doesn't inspire you to wear a green shirt, I don't know what will. To all the ladies out there, buy a green (preferably tight) shirt and write Thursday across it. Then you will be almost as cool as me. Then you can take a picture of yourself, well it'll be better if you have your roommate, or even Matt take a picture of you and then have the pictures developed and give it to Matt and then he will e-mail it to me and then I will see the support of the greatness of Green Shirt Thursdays. And as most of you know there is a tough date coming up for those of you that only own one green shirt. I luckily have three: my Thursday shirt, my Prep North shirt and my Minnesota shirt that I bought at three in the morning one night in Minnesota this past November. But St. Patrick's day falls on a Tuesday or Wed., so you should wear your Green Shirt on St. Pat's day and the following Thursday. You don't have to worry about washing it because having a green shirt on is more important than having a clean shirt on. And (for the ladies) you can always put on some perfume or something to cover up any unwanted scents. I prefer Curve for Women. And there you have, at long last, the history of Green Shirt Thursdays
By: Kevin Crean

The collegiate years saw Green Shirt Thursdays grow from its humble beginnings on a cross country team to a widespread following. Many SLUH XC alums took their Green Shirts with them to college and spread the good news of Thursday. I took it as my personal responsibility to get as many people to wear Green Shirts on Thursdays as possible. I began by writing a reminder on everyone's marker board on my floor early every Thursday morning (I had chemistry lab at 7:30, so I was awake before everyone else). People continued to forget to wear their Green Shirts, so I began sending out messages over AIM to everyone on my buddy list to remind them to wear their Green Shirt on Thursday. These are the messages found in this archive. They progressed from short, simple ad slogans to longer, more complex songs over time. For some, even the AIM reminders were not enough. They
claimed they had no Green Shirts. In response to this, I designed and had printed (thank you to the good people at the T-Shirt Place who charged me $1.50 less per shirt than they were supposed to) the Official Green Shirt Thursday Shirts. The picture is the design on the front of the shirts. These shirts were distributed to friends and family who in turn gave shirts to their friends and families. They also served as the jerseys for the GST intramural soccer teams at Dayton. Similar stories of success occurred at several other colleges and others are in progress. I even found a completely independent group of Green Shirt Thursday followers. In the post-collegiate years, the messages will continue being sent and posted and hopefully those who have been exposed to Green Shirt Thursdays will take the tradition with them.

Rudolph

Rudolph, the Green-Shirted reindeer
Had a very bright Green Shirt.
And if you ever saw him,
You would quickly hit the dirt.

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Thursday Eve
Santa came to say:
“Rudolph with your Shirt so Green,
Won’t you guide my sleigh, Old Bean?”

Then all the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the Green-Shirted reindeer,
You’ll go down in history

White Christmas

I’m dreaming of a Green Thursday
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the Green tops glisten,
and children listen
To hear Green Shirts in the snow

I’m dreaming of a Green Thursday
With every instant message I write
May your days be merry and clean
And may all your Thursdays be Green

Oompa Loompa

Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do
I have a perfect puzzle for you
Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-dee
If you are wise, you'll listen to me

What do you get when you don’t wear Green Shirts?
You get beat so badly that it really hurts
Why are you wearing a blue shirt and hat?
What do you think will come of that?

I don’t like the look of it

Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-da
If you wear Green Shirts, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do

Tribute

This is the greatest and best day in the world.. Thursday

Long time ago me and my brother Kyle here
We was hitchhikin down a long and lonesome road
All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon.. in the middle.. of the road
And he said, "Wear the best shirt in the world, or I'll eat your soul"
Well me and Kyle, we looked at each other,
And we each said.. "Okay"
And we pulled the Green Shirts over our heads,
Just so happened to be,
The Best Shirts in the World, they were The Best Shirts in the World.

What ya gonna wear?

If there's something strange
in your neighborhood
What ya gonna wear?
A GREEN SHIRT!

If there's something weird
and it don't look good
What ya gonna wear?
A GREEN SHIRT!

I ain't afraid of Thursdays
I ain't afraid of Thursdays

If you're seeing things
running through your head
What can ya wear?
A GREEN SHIRT!

An invisible man
sleeping in your bed
What ya gonna wear?
A GREEN SHIRT!

I ain't afraid of Thursdays
I ain't afraid of Thursdays

What ya gonna wear?
A GREEN SHIRT!

AllStar

Somebody once told me Thursday is gonna roll me
I aint the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an L on her forehead

Well Thursdays start coming and they don’t stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn’t make sense not to just wear one
Your brain gets smart and you get more done

So much to do so much to see
So much wrong with wearing a black shirt
You’ll never know if you don’t go
You’ll never shine if you don’t glow

Hey now it’s a Thursday get your Shirt on, go play
Hey now it’s a Thursday get the Shirt on, get paid
And all that glitters is Green
Only Green Shirts will be seen

Green Shirt Time

My-my-my-my Green Shirt hits me so hard makes me say oh my Lord
Thank you for blessing me with a mind to rhyme and a Shirt that’s Green
It feels good when you know it should
A superdope homeboy from Kirkwood
And I’m known as such
And this is a Shirt uh you can’t touch

I told you homeboy you can’t touch this
Yeah that’s how we’re livin and you know you can’t touch this
Look at my Shirt man you can’t touch this
You know let me bust the funky lyrics you can’t touch this

Fresh t-shirt and pants
You got it like that now you know you wanna dance
So move out of your seat
And get a fly girl and catch this beat
While it’s Thursday hold on pump a little bit
And let me know it’s going on like that like that
Cold on a mission so pull on back
Let em know that you’re too much
And this is a Shirt uh you can’t touch

Yo I told you you can’t touch this
Why you standing there man you can’t touch this
Yo sound the bells school's in sucker
Break it down (oh-oh-oh-oh)
Stop
Green Shirt time

Sweeping the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet
Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Green Shirt Thursday?

Come and play
Everything's a-okay
Family, neighbors, friends
That's where we meet
Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Green Shirt Thursday?

Fun Fun Fun

Well she got her Green Shirt
And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now
And she’ll have fun fun fun till her daddy takes her Green Shirt away

Well the girls can’t stand her
Cause she walks looks and drives like an ace now
She makes the Indy 500 look like a roman chariot race now
A lot of guys try to catch her
But she leads them on a wild goose chase now
And she’ll have fun fun fun till her daddy takes her Green Shirt away

Well you knew all along
That your dad was gettin wise to you now
And since he took your Green Shirt
You’ve been thinking that your fun is all through now
But you can come along with me
Cause I’ve got a Green Shirt for you now
And we’ll have fun fun fun now that daddy took your Green Shirt away

Every Morning

Every morning there’s a Green Shirt hangin from the corner of my girlfriend’s four post bed
I know it’s not mine but I’ll see if I can use it on this Thursday for a one-night stand
Couldn’t understand
How to work it out
Once again as predicted left my own Green Shirt open
and you ripped it off
Something's got me reeling
Stopped me from believing
Turn me around again
Said that we can wear it
You know I wanna wear it again
(Sugar Ray say)
Oh.....
(Every morning)
Oh.....
(Every morning when I wake up)
(Wear the Shirt, baby. Don’t say a word)
Oh.....
(Green always rights the wrong. Green always rights, Green always rights)
(Wear the Shirt, baby. Wear the Shirt, baby.)

Stairway to Thursday

There’s a lady who’s sure
All that glitters is Green
And she’s buying a stairway to Thursday
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a Shirt she can get what she came for
Ooh, ooh, and she’s buying a stairway to Thursday
There’s a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
Cause you know sometimes Shirts have two meanings
In a tree by the brook
There’s a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it makes me wonder
There’s a feeling I get
When I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of Shirts which are Green
And the voices of those who stand looking
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it really makes me wonder
And it’s whispered that soon
If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter
If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow
Don’t be alarmed now
Its just a spring clean for the May Queen
Yes there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There’s still time to change the Shirt you have on
And it makes me wonder
Your head is humming and it wont go
In case you don’t know
The piper’s calling you to join him
Dear lady can you hear the wind blow
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind
And as we wind on down the road
Our Green Shirts taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to Green
And if you listen very hard
The Day will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll

And she’s buying a stairway to Thursday

Scientific Proof for Green as the Greatest Color

There are many reasons why green is the perfect color. Green has long been associated with life. It provides us sustenance as life as we know it would not exist without the sugar producing goodness of chlorophyll. Green is the color of growth, renewal, and health evident in spring time where life is once again restored. If we didn't have green the phrase "on to greener pastures" would only be "on to pastures" and the valuable US "greenback" would only be a "back". Green can be used for therapy because it stabilizes the autonomic nervous system, is an emotional stabilizer, and pituitary stimulant. Green acts upon the sympathetic nervous system by relieving tension in the blood vessels and lowering the blood pressure. More importantly, green is a muscle and tissue builder as well as an aphrodisiac. This is extremely important because wearing a green shirt increases your chances of getting laid on Thursdays. Green has also been beneficial in medicine, being used for treatment of anything from asthma to venereal diseases (caused by random Thursday encounters). This report should remove any doubt that green is the greatest color.

Senior Year Messages

It's Thursday!
HOORAY THURSDAY!

Don't Mess With Thursday

I see Thursday arising
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightnin
I see bad times today

Wear a Green Shirt tonight
Or it's bound to take your life
There's a Thursday on the rise

I hear hurricanes ablowing
I know the end is coming soon
I fear rivers over flowing
If I see a non-Green Shirt on you

Wear a Green Shirt tonight
Or it's bound to take your life
There's a Thursday on the rise

Hope you got your things together
Hope you are quite prepared to die
Looks like we're in for nasty weather
One eye is taken for an eye

Wear a Green Shirt tonight
Or it's bound to take your life
There's a Thursday on the rise

Green Shirt Thursdsay: So easy, no wonder it's #1.
Blessed are the poor, in Green Shirts, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who weep for shirts lost, for they shall be Green Shirted.
Blessed are the Green Shirt wearers, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for Thursdays, for they shall have their Green Shirts.
Blessed are the Green Shirted, for they shall obtain Green Shirts.
Blessed are the Green of Shirt, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the Green Shirt makers, for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they that suffer persecution for Thursday’s sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Green Shirt Thursday: I live for this.

Damn it feels good to wear a Green Shirt

Green Shirt Thursday: It's so easy, even a caveman can do it.

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I take a look in my closet and realize there’s one shirt left
Cause I’ve been wearin Green Shirts so long that
Even my mama thinks that my mind is gone
But I ain’t never worn a shirt that didn’t deserve it
Me be wearin blue or pink, you know that’s unheard of
You better watch how you talkin and what you wearin
Or you and your homies might be lined in chalk
I really hate to trip but I gotta lope
As they croak I see myself in the pistol smoke ... fool
I’m the kinda guy that little homies want to be like
On my knees in the light unfolding Green Shirts on Thursday night

Been spending most their lives livin in a Green Shirt Paradise
Keep spending most our lives livin in a Green Shirt Paradise

Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the Shirts we wear should all be Green?
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the Shirts we wear should all be Green?

A Thursday every week and a Green Shirt on every back

Come on wear Green
I swear (well he means) on this Thursday Shirts mean everything
You know how to dress, your Green Shirt you confess, is not dirty
Ah come on wear Green

These people round here wear red or brown shirts
Drunk off cheap Beast cases they're so resigned to what their fate is,
But not us (no never), no not us (no never) we are far too young and clever (remember)
Too-ra Loo-ra Too-ra Loo-Rye-Aye
And I'll wear Green Shirts forever

Come on wear Green, oh I swear (well he means)
Ah come on let's, it's a Thursday thing
You know how to dress, wear Green (Tell him yes)
Ah come on let's, ah come on wear Green, please

I don't care if Sunday’s blue
Monday’s grey and Tuesday too
Wednesday I don't care about you
It's Thursday. I'm in Green

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There’s a day that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Shirts are Green
And the Thursdays you dream of
Really will be seen.

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where Wednesday is far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.

GOOO Green Shirt Thursday!
G...R...E...EeeeN...Shirts!
Green Shirt! Thursday! GST!

Dashing through the snow
In a Green Shirt on Thursday
O’er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making Green Shirts bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A Thursday song tonight

Oh, Green Shirt Thurs, Green Shirt Thurs
Green Shirts on all day
Oh, what fun it is to wear
A Green Shirt on Thursday
Green Shirt Thurs, Green Shirt Thurs
Green Shirts on all day
Oh, what fun it is to wear
A Green Shirt on Thursday

It’s close to midnight and something Green is lurking in the dark
Under the moonlight you see a Shirt that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes
You’re paralyzed

Cause this is Green Shirt, Thursday night
And your Green Shirt’ll save you from the beast about to strike
You know it’s Green Shirt, Thursday night
You’re fighting for your life inside a killer Green Shirt tonight

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk
I’m a Green Shirt guy, no time to talk
Music loud and Green Shirts worn
I’ve been wearin Green since I was born
And now it’s all right, it’s O.K.
As long as you wear Green Thursday

We can try to understand
Green Shirt Thursday’s effect on man

Whether you’re a brother
Or whether you’re a mother
You’re wearin Green Shirts, wearin Green Shirts
Feel the city breakin
And everybody shakin
And we’re wearin Green Shirts, wearin Green Shirts
Ah, ha, ha, ha
Wearin Green Shirts
Wearin Green Shirts
Ah, ha, ha, ha
Wearin Green Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirts
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door
‘Tis some visitor,’ I muttered, ‘tapping at my chamber door
Only this and nothing more’

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter
In there stepped a stately Green Shirt of the saintly days of yore
Not the least obeisance made it; not a minute stopped or stayed it
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door
Perched, and sat, and nothing more

Then this odd Green Shirt beguiling my sad fancy into smiling
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore
‘Though thy sleeves be shorn and shaven, thou,’ I said, ‘art sure no craven
Ghastly grim and ancient Green Shirt wandering from the nightly shore
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night’s Plutonian shore’
Quoth the Green Shirt, ‘Nevermore.’

Stone: Hello?
Williams: Ay, who, whassup?
Stone: Nothin', B, watchin' the game, wearin' a Green Shirt. Whassup wit'chu?
Williams: Nothin', watchin' the game, wearin' a Green Shirt.
Stone: True, true.

If everybody had a Green Shirt
Across the USA
Then everybody’d be wearin’
Theirs on Thursday
You’d seem ‘em wearing green hoodies
T-shirts and tank tops too
A bushy bushy green sweater
Green Shirt Thursday

You’d see green on at Wah Fu
Saint Louis County line
Webster Groves and Kirkwood
Brown Street’s BW3s
All over the Midwest
And down at Chipotle

Everybody’s wearin’ Green Shirts
Green Shirt Thursday

Can I help you enjoy this Thursday?

Happy people soar over Green Shirt-covered mountaintops and waterfalls of caramel.
Prancing nougat in a Green Shirt sings a song of satisfaction to the world

Take me out to the ball game
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some Green Shirts and Cracker Jack
I don't care if I never get back
Let us root, root, root for the Green Shirts
If they aren't worn it's a shame
For it's one or two Green Shirts you've got
On the old Thursday

Thursday in my Green Shirt
I think it was the 4th of July
Thursday in my Green Shirt
I think it was the 4th of July
People dancing, people laughing
A man selling Green Shirts
Singing Thursday songs
Will you sing along with this man?
Can you dig it? (yes, I can)
And I’ve been waiting such a long time
For Thursday

Thursday in my Green Shirt
You’d think it was the 4th of July
Thursday in my Green Shirt
You’d think it was the 4th of July
People talking, really smiling
A man playing guitar
Singing for us all
Will you help him change the world?
Can you dig it? (yes, I can)
And I’ve been waiting such a long time
For today

Slow motion riders fly the color of the day
A bronze man still can send messages his own way
Listen children all is not lost
All is not lost

I fought the Green Shirt and the Green Shirt won

Yeah, once I was a boogie singer...
playin in a rock & roll band
I never had no problems...
burnin down the one night stands
And everything around me...
got to start to feelin so low
And I decided quickly...
to disco down and check out the show

Yeah, they were dancin and singin and movin to the groovin
And just when it hit me somebody turned around and shouted

Wear that funky Green Shirt white boy
Wear that funky Green Shirt right
Wear that funky Green Shirt white boy
Lay down that white shirt and wear that funky Green Shirt till you die
(hey,hey) Till you die...yeah, yeah

I don't wanna grow up. I'm a Green Shirt Thurs kid. There's a million toys on Green Shirt Thurs that I can play with. More bikes, more trains, more video games, it's the biggest day there is. I don't want to grow up, because then if I did, I wouldn't be a Green Shirt Thurs kid.

Talking away
I don't know what I'm to say
I'll say it anyway
Thursday's another day to find you
Shying away
I'll be coming for your love, OK?

Put on me
Put me on
I'll be gone
In a day, it’s true

So needless to say I'm odds and ends
But I’ll be, stumbling away
Slowly learning that Thursday’s OK
Say after me,
It's better to be safe than sorry

Put on me
Put me on
I'll be gone
In a day, it’s true

The things that you say
Is it life or just to play my worries away?
Your Green Shirt’s all you’ve got to remember
You’re shying away
I'll be coming for you anyway

Put on me
Put me on
I'll be gone
In a day

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at last Thursday’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the tee shirt’s Green glare, red shirts bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our Shirt was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled Green Shirt yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of Thursday?

O Green Shirt!
Our home and native tee!
True patriot love in all thy sons decree.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
On Thursday, strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Green Shirt, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep Thursday glorious and free!
O Green Shirt, we stand on guard for thee.
O Green Shirt, we stand on guard for thee.

Maybe she's born with it. Maybe it's Green Shirt Thursday

Green Shirt Thursday: A Real American Hero

Then God said: "Let there be Green Shirts, to separate this day from all other days. Let them give whoever wears them great powers on this day. Those wearing a Green Shirt will be unrivaled in all ways." And so it happened: God made Green Shirts, and those who wore them on this day were granted magnificent abilities. God saw how good it was. Evening came, and morning followed--Green Shirt Thursday.

Say!
I like Green Shirts on Thursday!
I do! I like them here, today!
And I would wear them in a boat.
And I would wear them with a goat...
And I will wear them in the rain.
And in the dark. And on a train.
And in a car. And in a tree.
They are so good, so good, you see!
So I will wear them in a box.
And I will wear them with a fox.
And I will wear them in a house.
And I will wear them with a mouse.
And I will wear them here and there.
Say! I will wear them ANYWHERE!

I've paid my dues
Time after time
I've worn Green Shirts;
Gotten away with some crime
And bad mistakes
I've made few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face
But the shirts have come through
And the list can go on and on and on and on...
It's Green Shirt Thursday, my friends
And we'll wear Green Shirts till the end
It's Green Shirt Thursday
It's Green Shirt Thursday
No time for blue shirts
'Cause it's Green Shirt Thursday...In the world

Egon: There's something very important I forgot to tell you.
Venkman: What?
Egon: Don't take off your Green Shirts.
Venkman: Why?
Egon: It would be bad.
Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good-bad thing. Whattya mean "bad"?
Egon: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Ray: Total protonic reversal...
Venkman: Right, that's bad... OK... important safety tip. Thanks Egon.

As the good reverend would say, why we're on this particular mission, we'll never know. But I do know, here today, that the Green Shirts will emerge victorious once again.

Young man, there's no need to feel down.
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young man, 'cause you're in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy.

Young man, there's a shirt you can wear.
I said, young man, when you're way over there.
You can wear it, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It's fun to partake in Green Shirt Thursday
It's fun to partake in Green Shirt Thursday
It has everything for you men to enjoy,
You can play with all sorts of toys
It's fun to partake in Green Shirt Thursday
It's fun to partake in Green Shirt Thursday
You can get yourself cleaned, you can have a good meal,
You can do whatever you feel

Young man, are you listening to me?
I said, young man, what do you want to be?
I said, young man, you can make real your dreams.
But you got to know this one thing!

No man does it all by himself.
I said, young man, take that Shirt off the shelf,
And just wear it, on Green Shirt Thursday
I'm sure it can help you today.

It's fun to partake in Green Shirt Thursday

Young man, I was once in your shoes.
I said, I was down and out with the blues.
I felt no man cared if I were alive.
I felt the whole world was so tight

That's when someone came up to me,
And said, young man, take a walk up the week.
There's a day there called Green Shirt Thursday
It can start you back on your way.

It's fun to partake in Green Shirt Thursday
It's fun to partake in Green Shirt Thursday
It has everything for you men to enjoy,
You can play with all sorts of toys

Green Shirt Thursday ... you'll find it on Green Shirt Thursday.
Young man, young man, there's no need to feel down.
Young man, young man, get yourself off the ground.

Young man, young man, are you listening to me?
Young man, young man, what do you wanna be?

What can Green do for you?

When you vote on Tuesday forget Bush and Kerry. Choose the candidate that stands for what you believe: Green Shirt Thursdays. Concerned with the excessive anti-terrorist expenses? Bush and Kerry see these costs as necessary and unavoidable. This is not so. I assure you that if you choose Green Shirt Thursdays, the terrorist threat against you will drop to zero, erasing the need for anti-terrorism measures. With the billions of dollars saved, money can be spent on more useful things like aid for small Green Shirt manufacturers. The US has drawn the ire of the majority of the world in the aftermath of the hasty invasion of Iraq. With the widespread international sympathy for the Green Shirt Thursday cause, the US will regain the world's respect. For a better Thursday, a better next 4 years and a better world choose Green Shirt Thursdays.

In honor of Black History Month, I present ?I have a dream? (abridged)
Two and a half years ago, a few great Americans purchased green Prep North Top 7 shirts. This occasion came as a great beacon of light of hope to the masses. But two and a half years later, we face the tragic fact that not all wear Green Shirts on Thursdays. I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day we will live in a world where all will wear Green Shirts on Thursdays. I have a dream that people will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the color shirt they wear on Thursdays

It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her green-shirt and brushes her long blonde hair.
And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."

Silly Rabbit. Green Shirts are for Thursdays.

For there's a cruel law ag'in' the Wearin o' the Green!
I met with Napper Tandy, and he took me by the hand,
And he said, "How's poor ould Ireland, and how does she stand?"
"She's the most distressful country that ever yet was seen,
For they're hanging men and women there for the Wearin o' the Green.
An' if the colour we must wear is England's cruel red,
Let it remind us of the blood that Ireland has shed;
Then pull the shamrock from your hat, and throw it on the sod,
An' never fear, twill take root there, though under foot tis trod.
When law can stop the blades of grass from growin as they grow,
An' when the leaves in summer time their colour dare not show,
Then I will change the colour, too, I wear in my caubeen;
But till that day, plaise God, I'll stick to the Wearin o' the Green
-random Irish song
